Work At Home: Legal Document Coder Jobs

What You Do: Legal document coders are responsible for extracting data from scanned documents and entering the data into appropriate data entry boxes. This data is organized and used to serve as search criteria for litigation firms. The information you input is vital in helping those in the legal profession locate the important documents that they need on their computer.

How Much Can You Make: Most litigation support companies pay their remote document coders per document and/or per page. How much you can make will depend on how much the company is paying for documents and how many you complete. Most of the time the documents are arranged into batches. The work may be steady, busy, or slow. It all depends on how many clients the company has and how much work they have. As mentioned before, I did this job for a long time and enjoyed it very much. The only reason I quit being a legal document coder was to pursue my dream of writing full time.

What You Need: You will need a computer with high speed Internet access and the software the company uses for their remote coders. Usually you are able to download the software for free using instructions given to you by the company you are working for. You may need a spreadsheet program to keep track of your batches and earnings also.
